The International Symposium on Ballistics (ISB) has always encouraged the publication of a wide range of types of paper from work in progress at one end of the spectrum to papers of journal quality at the other. We have always encouraged new researchers to publish their work as part of their education.
At the 23rd ISB, at Tarragona, Spain, Bo Janzon, the IBC Chair, surveyed the delegates about publishing some of the higher quality papers in a special edition of a recognized journal. The delegates strongly supported his idea and he negotiated with the editor of the Journal of Applied Mechanics (JAM) for a special edition, containing about 25 papers, devoted to the ISB.
The first edition of this special edition was published at the 25th, Beijing symposium. Since this first edition two more, please see below, were published by the JAM, and the quality of the papers and the number submitted has increased significantly.
Symposium | Journal & volume |
25th Beijing | J. Appl. Mech 77 No. 5 |
26th Miami | J. Appl. Mech 78 No. 5 |
27th Freburg | J. Appl. Mech 80 No. 3 |
28th Atlanta | Defence Technology 10, Issue 2 |
29th Edinburgh | Defence Technology 12, Issues 2 & 3 |
30th Long Beach | Defence Technology 13, Issues 3 & 4 |
